Tryouts and evaluation sessions
Evaluation works today from the coaching side. What is missing is running a trial as its own kind of event, so the session, the players and the scoring are one thing rather than three.
How clubs do this today
A trial is set up as an ordinary session, and the scoring happens separately in the coaching area. The two are linked by the coach remembering which is which.
That works, but it means the people who turned up and the people who were scored are two lists, and reconciling them afterwards is manual.
What we are building
- Trial and evaluation as event types in their own right, alongside casual, match, social and training.
- The squad who accepted the event becomes the list you score, with no re-entry.
- Scoring a whole group in one pass, the way a trials session actually runs, rather than one player at a time.
- The club's pass threshold applied to the session, so selection comes out of it directly.
